Muesli Oat Breakfast Bowl
A filling, stick-to-your-ribs Muesli Oat Breakfast Bowl will keep you all the morning. Just recently I was asked what would be a good filling breakfast. This is it Gang! I make this in a fairly large quantity. Takes literally 5 minutes to put together (well maybe 8 or 10) and you have breakfast for a week. Store it in a plastic container and use when you just want something simple and easy.
Once mixed, all you have to do is take your container out, pour into bowl, add plant based milk, and sweetener if you desire, though the raisins or cranberries should sweeten it sufficiently. And enjoy! How easy is that? If you want to take it a step further, add cut up apple, banana or any of your other favorite fresh fruit toppings.
Unprocessed! Raw! That’s what we like about this. No oil. No additives. No preservatives. No sugary, processed boxed cereal here. Just pure natural whole foods. Believe me, you’ll feel good serving this to your children. My granddaughter was here last weekend and it’s what she enjoyed for breakfast.
A friend of mine called the other day and said she just loved this. She is on a special eating program which includes no sugar and no flour. She did add 3/4 cup of fresh fruit. A cut up banana is delicious or blueberries, strawberries. Any of your favorite fruit to top this dish, just kicks it up a notch.
A little background on this mixture. The original Birchermuesli is of Swiss-German origin. It was created by a Swiss Physician, Dr. Maximilian Bircher-Benner, in the early 1900s as a health-promoting food for his patients.
Sesame Seeds – anti-oxidant rich, anti-inflammatory and great for bone health.
Since the early sixties, one study after another has proven that just one bowl of oatmeal a day has a beneficial effect in lowering blood cholesterol by 8 – 23 %.
This is not to mention all the other heath-promoting nutrients it contains such as protein, selenium which scavenges free-radicals, manganese, B1 and much more.
Raisins and or cranberries add a nice touch of sweetness. Although some of the nutrients are lost in the drying process, they are still a good and healthy food.
This is one dish my “fussy-eater-husband” even likes. Yea for me!
Cinnamon and nutmeg add a hint of nice flavor.
The goodness of raw oats. Healthy Omega 3s in the walnuts. Hard to find Zinc in the pumpkin seeds gives your immune system a good boost.
Takes a very short time to get this all into the bowl.
With two spoons, give it a good mix and pour or scoop into your container.

- 3 cups rolled oats
- 3/4 cup raisins or dried cranberries
- 3/4 cup raw walnuts, chopped
- 2 tablespoons raw sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons raw pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- Place all ingredients in a large bowl. Mix well and scoop into a plastic container. Use as needed. Store in refrigerator or pantry and use within one week.
